If you are concerned that you might have received less than 95% pullet chicks, in your order, please submit a sexing accuracy dispute claim. The directions to do this are listed below:

 

To submit a sexing accuracy dispute claim:

1) Please click the blue 'Support' button on the bottom right of your screen.

2) From the available options, please select 'Leave a message'. You will then fill in your name, email, and can include a message. Please include your order number.

3) We ask that you attach a picture of the front box label which shows the quantity, and variety, along with your submission. Please also included pictures of any birds thought to be a sexing error.

4) In order to receive a refund for sexing mistakes, please attach any pictures supporting your claim, to your support claim message. Upon review, and positive confirmation of sexing errors, you will be refunded for the purchase price of the chick, for each sexing error that you have pictures for.

 

We take mistakes very seriously and will work to resolve any issues right away.

 

 

Types of Sexing Which We Utilize

1) Color Sexing

*Novogen pullet chicks

*Novogen cockerel chicks

With this method, color sexable chicks are separated at hatch based upon color traits and markings.

This is the most reliable sexing method.

Novogen Browns, ColorPack Blues, Dominant Coppers, Silver Laced Sussex, and Blue Plymouth Rocks, can be sexed by color traits.

Not all varieties can be color sexed, only those mentioned above.  

2) Feather Sexing (Wing Sexing)

While generally less reliable than color sexing, feather sexing is a different way to sex chicks. Feather sexing is performed on feather sexable chicks immediately after hatching.

Feather sexing can only be performed on feather sexable chick varieties, it is not possible on any other type of chick.

The wing tips of chicks are examined gently to determine sex. Males (cockerels) typically have a double set of long feathers, while females (pullets) have an overlapping set of long and short feathers.

Feather sexing can only be performed immediately after chicks hatch, as feathers begin to lengthen and grow immediately after chicks hatch.

Sex cannot be determined accurately by this method once feathers begin to grow in and overlap (1 day after hatching).

 

3) Straight Run

Straight Run, simply means, sold as hatched. Straight Run varieties are not sexable, because they do not possess the traits necessary to be sexed by color or feather pattern. Any type of poultry that we sell, which cannot be sexed by color or feather pattern, is by default, sold as a Straight Run.

Cornish Cross, Freedom Rangers, and Jackie Red Rangers are sold as a Straight Run only.

Straight Run varieties, as they are not sexed can contain any varying ratio of cockerels to pullets. We make no guarantees as to the ratio of males (cockerels) to females (pullets), with Straight Run varieties.
